Atlantic Professional Development  was formed March of 1996 specifically to provide high quality field training of tidal datum methods to professional land surveyors and has since provided this training to hundreds of survey professionals throughout the United States. APD is fully accredited  (Provider # 023) by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to deliver tidal datum training as a part of continuing professional education. Our classes and seminars are fully approved for CEU and CLE credit.

Since its inception, APD has instructed nearly 1000 surveying professionals. Our many satisfied organizational clients include:

APD understands that most land surveyors serve an apprenticeship without the benefit of a four-year college education, learning their special skills, legal attitudes, and mathematics from a mentor. The awareness of this and the recognized criticality of accurate tidal datums prompted APD President and Chief Instructor, Douglas Thompson - himself a 30 year survey professional - to develop a program that would provide the nation’s professional land surveyors with the opportunity to learn accurate field methodologies for establishing tidal datums and protect themselves from the legal liability of inaccurate results.
